Enter your cat's weight and pick a tincture strength. Output is per dose, twice daily.
Starting framework, not a prescription. Drops calculated against standard glass dropper (~0.05 mL/drop). *Higher end only after watching response over 1–2 weeks. Always consult your veterinarian — especially if your cat is on medication, is a kitten, or is pregnant/nursing.
Free Vet ConsultHow to dose CBD for a cat — the right way.
Four rules every cat owner should follow when starting their cat on CBD.
Start Low
Begin at the gentle-start amount for your cat's weight. Cats are smaller and more sensitive than dogs — going low first protects against over-dosing.
Twice Daily
Standard cat dosing is twice daily, 8–12 hours apart. Consistency outperforms higher single doses.
Watch & Note
Cats hide changes. Track demeanor, appetite, jumping, grooming, and litter habits for two weeks. Without notes, small daily progress is easy to miss.
Adjust Slowly
If you need more support, increase by ~25% and hold for two weeks before adjusting again. Slow changes give you a clean read on what's working.
Suggested starting amounts by weight.
Reference chart Dr. Shu's team uses on free consultations. Pair with the calculator above for your cat's exact weight.
| Cat Size | Gentle Start | Suggested | Higher End* | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kitten / petite (3–5 lb) | ~1 mg | ~2 mg | ~3 mg | Twice daily |
| Small (5–8 lb) | ~1.5 mg | ~3 mg | ~4.5 mg | Twice daily |
| Average (8–12 lb) | ~2 mg | ~4 mg | ~6 mg | Twice daily |
| Large (12–18 lb) | ~3 mg | ~6 mg | ~9 mg | Twice daily |
| Extra large (18+ lb) | ~4 mg | ~8 mg | ~12 mg | Twice daily |
*Higher end only after observed response over 1–2 weeks and ideally a vet conversation. Not a starting amount.

Different goals, different patterns.
Amount stays similar. Timing changes based on what you're supporting.
Daily Wellness
Senior cats, multi-cat households, or any cat on an ongoing routine. Consistency does the work — most benefit accrues over two to three weeks.
Vet Visits & Travel
The carrier, the car ride, the waiting room. Dose ahead of the stressor, not as a reaction to it.
Senior Joint Comfort
For the cat who's slowing down on the leap to the windowsill. Daily, consistent support — this is a routine, not a rescue.
Multi-Cat Tension
New rescue introductions, territory shifts, or general "too much personality in one house." Daily support for everyone in the household.
Three ways to give a cat CBD oil.
Pick the one your cat tolerates best — most owners cycle through all three.
Mixed into wet food
Drip the suggested drops onto a small portion of wet food. Most cats accept it without noticing. Use a smaller-than-usual portion so your cat finishes it.
On a treat
Drip onto a treat your cat already loves — Churu, lickable tuna, or a high-value bite. Lowest-friction route for picky cats.
Direct, by plastic syringe
Use the included plastic syringe (won't shatter if your cat bites). Place at the back of the cheek and depress slowly. Best for precise dosing once your cat is used to the routine.
Onset, duration, and when to adjust.
Onset. Most cats show a shift within 30 to 90 minutes of a dose, especially on an empty stomach. Effects tend to be subtle — described as "she's just more herself" — not dramatic.
Duration. Single-dose support typically lasts 4–6 hours, which is why twice-daily dosing matters. For chronic comfort or daily wellness, the meaningful change is cumulative — most owners find benefits build steadily through the first two to three weeks of consistent dosing.
When to adjust. Hold the starting amount for at least two weeks before changing it. If you'd like more support after that, raise by roughly 25% and hold for another two weeks before adjusting again.
When to lower. If your cat seems unusually sleepy, less interested in food, or simply "off," step back to the gentle-start amount and call your vet — our consultation team is here to talk through what you're seeing.
When to talk to your vet before starting.
Before introducing any new supplement, consult your veterinarian if your cat:
· Is on prescription medication. Some medications metabolize through the same liver enzymes as cannabinoids; your vet can advise on timing or dosage adjustments.
· Is a kitten, or is pregnant/nursing. Supplements should only be introduced under direct veterinary guidance for these cats.
· Has an existing medical condition being managed under veterinary care.
· Avoid human or aromatherapy CBD products. Many contain ingredients toxic to cats — xylitol (artificial sweetener), chocolate, certain essential oils. Always use a product formulated specifically for animals.
