We know that you care about your pet’s health, and we’re here to help you learn more about CBD oil for pets. CBD oil is a natural compound that has been shown to have a variety of health benefits for both humans and animals.

Check out our FAQs below

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of many compounds called cannabinoids that are found in the cannabis or hemp plant. It is non-intoxicating, meaning it does not cause a “high.” Studies have shown CBD may help support joint mobility, support normal brain function, help maintain normal GI health, and help keep pets calm.

Our veterinarian formulated products are designed with your pet in mind and may be used to help support joint mobility, support normal brain function, help maintain normal GI health, and to help to keep your pet calm.

If your pet is on any medications, it is important to discuss usage of CBD products with your veterinarian prior to administration. We’re also happy to speak with your veterinarian about any questions they may have.

Full-spectrum refers to hemp extracts that contain a bouquet of beneficial cannabinoids in addition to CBD, such as CBC, CBG, and even small amounts of THC. The combination of multiple cannabinoids working together can provide additional benefits compared to using CBD alone.

Using a full spectrum product ensures that you are utilizing the plant’s many beneficial compounds, most notably cannabinoids. This is known as the entourage effect and results in a more beneficial product. You can read more about that here:

It depends on how the product is formulated. CBD products made for humans may contain ingredients that are not safe for pets, or may be formulated using amounts that are much higher than what is best for pets. For these reasons it’s best to stick with CBD products that are formulated by a veterinarian, specifically for pets.

Yes. Veterinarians are allowed to discuss CBD with you. If your veterinarian has any questions, we’re happy to speak with them as well, at no charge.

If you notice any changes to your dog’s health, or are considering changing their medical regimen, it’s important that you speak with your veterinarian first.

Olive oil is a healthy oil derived from the olive fruit. It consists of long-chain triglycerides (LCT), which provide better absorption of lipid-based molecules, such as CBD.

MCT oil stands for medium-chain triglycerides, and the absorption properties when combined with lipid-based molecules such as CBD, are not as good as an LCT like olive oil.

So for maximum absorption properties, it’s best to use olive oil when ingesting CBD. The olive oil that we use is high-quality, organic, extra virgin olive oil.

Although uncommon, some animals may experience mild side effects to CBD, such as GI upset, or sleepiness.

Multiple studies have shown that CBD is well-tolerated and has a good safety profile. A 2018 study from Colorado State University titled “A Report of Adverse Effects Associated With the Administration of Cannabidiol in Healthy Dogs,” said that “CBD is a well-tolerated supplement.” A 2019 study, “Single-Dose Pharmacokinetics and Preliminary Safety Assessment with Use of CBD-Rich Hemp Nutraceutical in Healthy Dogs and Cats” concluded that “hemp-based CBD appears to be relatively safe in healthy populations of dogs and cats.”

The 2018 Farm Bill removed hemp from being a Schedule 1 substance. Hemp is defined as cannabis plants containing no more than 0.3% THC. Products derived from hemp are legal and can be sold throughout the US.

CBD does not cause a high in humans or animals.

Full spectrum CBD products contain trace amounts of THC as naturally found in hemp plants. When used appropriately, the trace amounts of THC don’t cause a high, and can actually make the product more beneficial through the Entourage Effect.

Our CBD products are veterinarian-formulated using pet-safe ingredients and lab-tested for quality and safety.

CBD has an excellent safety-profile, and is well-tolerated, but some pets may experience mild side effects such as GI upset or sleepiness, particularly when using higher amounts.
